Several years ago, Bernards High School initiated a program called  the "S.A.T. Word of the Day".  Each day during homeroom, a word is read along with its definition.  A sentence correctly using the word is also read.  Additionally, since studies have proven that students can learn by viewing items displayed in their surroundings, these words can be found posted on the walls of many BHS classrooms as well as the Library.

Judi Martin, the Latin teacher for the Somerset Hills School District, has created four separate lists each containing 180 words.  No words are repeated on these lists.  Consequently,  students who spend all four years at Bernards High School will be exposed to a total of 720 different words!

We hope that such daily exposure to new words throughout the year will be a painless way to assist our students as they prepare for the S.A.T.
