Homework

Homework will be assigned most nights and some weekends.  Because of the nature of homework, it must be completed as directed, and it MUST be submitted in class when it is due or no credit will be earned. At the beginning of the year, each student will choose a trustworthy absentee partner and exchange phone numbers. If a student is not in class, s/he must call this absentee partner for an update and complete the assignment for that night. When the student returns, the partner will supply the student with any handouts or notes given on the day of the absence. This is a wonderful system that offers the students an opportunity to expand their skills in responsibility and reciprocity.
Homework averages will be worth 100 points towards the overall marking period grade. (Fifty points at the midmark, fifty points at the end.) Although homework is often dreaded by students, it truly is the best way to practice skills, learn self-discipline, and gain knowledge about time-management.  If you are surfing this site as a way to postpone starting your homework, log off and get to work!
