MIDDLE SCHOOL

The Partnership for America's Future Inc.
Two Middle School students have been chosen as winners in the Partnership
for America's Future Inc. for the months of June and July.  They will receive 
$100 each, a certificate and be posted on the Partnership web site.

Somerset Hills Education Foundation grant of $1000 to develop a multi-cultural unit of study in literature for the 5th grade using the story of Cinderella as a catalyst.  (April 2002)

Toshiba Mini-grant of $750 to develop a unit of study on alternate energy sources with 5th graders.  (January 2002)

NEA/NFIE grant of $1500 to attend technology convention in Atlanta.  (October 2001)

Competitors memorize a speech between 4 and 7 minutes in length.

Sears Craftsman Competition (May 2001)
Two BMS students are winners in the Sears nationwide competition.  
They will be honored at a school assembly on May 10.  A Sears 
representative will present the winning 5th grader with a savings bond 
for $5,000 and the winning 6th grader with a savings bond for $500.
Their teachers will be recognized with gift certificates as well.

Junior Select (6th & 7th graders) received rating of "Excellent."
Senior Select (7th & 8th graders) received rating of "Superior."

BMS students won first place prize in 7th/8th grade competition with Baby Safety Harness.

Teacher Christine Lemberg was named Volunteer of the Year by the Bernardsville Library for coordinating the ESL program
