Graduation Testing Requirements for the State of New Jersey
Pursuant to federal requirement N.J.S.A. 18A:7C-1, the New Jersey Commissioner of Education, with approval of the State Board of Education, is required to establish a program of standards for graduation from secondary school, and such a program shall include, “the development of a Statewide assessment test in reading, writing, and computational skills to be administered to all secondary school pupils”.  The assessment for the class of 2016 is the PARCC, Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.

On January 8, 2016, the New Jersey Department of Education released the following chart of graduation testing requirements:

PARCC ELA Grade 9 >= 750 (Level 4)or

PARCC Algebra I >= 750 (Level 4)or

PARCC ELA Grade 10 >=750 (Level 4)or

PARCC Geometry >= 725 (Level 3)or

PARCC ELA Grade 11 >= 725 (Level 3)or

PARCC Algebra II >= 725 (Level 3)or

SAT Reading* >= 400or

SAT Math* >= 400or

ACT Reading or ACT PLAN Reading >= 16 or

Accuplacer Write Placer >= 6 or
