At a Special Board of Education meeting held on March 31, 2025, the Somerset Hills School District approved Mr. Scott Wolfe as Principal of Bedwell Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year. 

Bringing over 25 years of educational experience to the district, Wolfe has held a variety of roles within the public school system. He was encouraged to become a teacher by his 3rd and 4th grade teachers and never looked back.  He began his career as an elementary classroom teacher prior to becoming an elementary school Instructional Supervisor in Millburn Township. 

Wolfe’s experience in curriculum development, staff mentorship, and data-driven decision-making allowed him to meet the diverse needs of students across all grade levels. He focused on inclusion-based learning to develop a thoughtful master schedule. As an I&RS team member and facilitator, he met monthly to discuss students who were struggling academically, socially, and/or behaviorally, to develop strategies that could be used to address their needs while keeping the lines of communication open between home and school.  

Most recently, Wolfe served for the past 16 years as Principal of South Mountain School, a PreK-4 elementary school in Millburn, where in addition to the day-to-day operations, he successfully led initiatives that improved student achievement, strengthened teacher collaboration, and enhanced parent engagement. He prioritized fostering strong relationships between students, staff, and parents, and believes that community partnerships offer structure and support, as well as create opportunities for the success of all learners.

Wolfe is excited to join the Somerset Hills School District. In his new role, he looks forward to recognizing all of the great things that are being done by the staff to encourage creativity, inclusivity, and kindness for all students.  Wolfe feels strongly that those are the foundation of any exceptional elementary school, and traits he hopes to nurture and grow. He plans to visit classrooms, join lunches, observe recess, and take part in other experiences that enhance his ability to make the best decisions for all of Bedwell. “My primary focus in the transition to Bedwell is to learn about the school, staff, students, and parents.  Normal operations on campus will continue to happen, but the role of any good leader is to observe, ‘digest’, and then respond,” said Wolfe. “Bedwell has a tremendous history of success, and my job is to make sure that my transition fosters all of the superb things that are going on, while adding my own insights to make them even better.  I envision a school where every student is not only achieving, but thriving - socially, academically, and emotionally.”

Wolfe earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from York College of Pennsylvania and his Masters in Educational Administration from Kean University. 

“As we searched for the best fit to serve as Principal at Bedwell, Mr. Wolfe stood out in what was a talented pool of experienced candidates who sought to leave their districts to join us here in Somerset Hills.  In searching for the successful candidate, it was clear that the community wanted a candidate who understood that Bedwell is home to them; and who had the ability to espouse the concepts of heart, connection, presence, active listening and commitment.  Mr. Wolfe was able to express detailed examples that underscored his ability to meet and exceed our desired characteristics in a successful candidate and be progressed through our process.  Even better, our search process was able to draw on 16 years of leadership experience from which to examine Mr. Wolfe’s ability to lead Bedwell deftly and with great care,” shared Dr. Brian Brotschul, Superintendent of Schools.

Wolfe will replace Mr. Keith Koellhoffer, who served as Acting Principal after Ms. Jazmyn Allen left the district at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year. Koellhoffer will return to his role as Assistant Principal of Bernardsville Middle School alongside Principal Lisa Garofalo for the 2025-2026 school year.
