Bernards High School earned Silver recognition on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP classes are delivering results and broadening access for students. Schools can earn Honor Roll recognition annually, within four levels of distinction, ranging from bronze through platinum. In addition to having full-time grade 12 enrollment and being located in the United States, for a school to earn this recognition it must meet each of the following criteria for students in the most recent graduating class: 

• College Culture: 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least 1 AP Exam during high school.
• College Credit: 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least 1 AP Exam during high school.
• College Optimization: 2% or more of the graduating cohort took 5 or more AP Exams during high school. At least 1 of those exams was taken in 9th or 10th grade, so that students are spreading their AP experience across grades rather than feeling disproportionate pressure in any single year. 

Bernards High School offers 22 AP classes, taught by 18 stellar educators, all experts in their subject areas. In keeping with the mission of the high school, students think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of important issues; these are all skills that help them prepare for college, and beyond.

Bernards High School had 68% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 61% of seniors scoring a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam, and 8% of seniors who took 5 or more AP exams.

“The AP Honor Roll is an important recognition for Bernards High School as it affirms our philosophy of expansive student access to AP courses while in high school.  Allowing students to challenge themselves by taking rigorous AP courses throughout their academic career prepares them well for college coursework.” said Dr. Neigel. “Our AP teachers do an outstanding job preparing all students for AP exams, and in turn, their post-secondary education.”
