BHS Head Shaving 2026

The St. Baldrick's fundraiser at Bernards High School was a huge success once again! On the evening of March 4th, 2026, a total of 16 students and one staff member volunteered to have their heads shaved for a very worthy cause, as nearly 150 attendees cheered them on! At the event itself, $29,480 was raised, with every single dime going directly to Pediatric Cancer Research! 

The event was spearheaded by Campbell’s Flutterflies Club, which began over a decade ago by Caroline and Caitlin Hoyt when their younger sister Campbell died from a rare brain/spine cancer called anaplastic ependymoma. Her death was felt throughout the Somerset Hills community, but her legacy lives on through events and fundraising led by the Team Campbell Foundation and Campbell’s Flutterflies.

This year marks the 3rd year that Bernards High School organized and hosted this event. Planning began early in September, and meetings were held bi-monthly until January, when they jumped to weekly, and subsequently, in March, turned to daily! Countless hours, coordination, and effort go into planning such an event, and with community support, there were over 30 raffle prizes donated by local businesses and restaurants. BHS students Jane Stauffer, Aletha Reynolds, Max Caldwell, and Anakh Sawhney were the main planning team, along with BHS staff members Janice O'Brien(*), Kelly Clark, and Heather Hunkele.  

We applaud the following individuals who were bold enough to go bald, and who care to crush cancer: BHS students AJ MacCracken, Declan Meyer, Chris Peterson(*), Erik Annette(*), Hudson Gershon, Jack Martin, Jake Wieczorek, James Renz, Liam Calulo, Patrick Grabowy, Sean Griffin, Sonny Liranzo, Tucker Gallagher, Tyler Pace, Avery Calulo, Nolan Baker and BHS teacher Mr. Peter Mathus. Those marked with an asterisk earned the title Squire of Hope, in recognition of their participation for 3-6 years in a St. Baldrick’s fundraising event. 

"It was so amazing to see the whole community come together for such a great cause. One of our main goals this year was to make this a district-wide event, and I think we achieved that, while also raising a huge amount of money for pediatric cancer research," said Stauffer.
