Kids Supporting Kids

The MLL (Multilingual Learners) Club, in collaboration with Sally Roser from Community in Crisis, organized its first community service project of the year to support Cardz for Kidz, an organization that distributes handmade cards to pediatric patients nationwide.  Understanding the specific need for cards written in Spanish, the students, led by SHSD teachers Janet Garay and Pilar Medina, dedicated several lunch periods to create and personalize numerous unique cards, each featuring uplifting messages and artwork to match.

Once collected and counted by Community in Crisis, these cards were distributed to children in hospitals across the country, bringing comfort and joy to young patients who are dealing with challenging health issues this holiday season. While this initiative assists students in meeting their Bernards High School community service requirements, it more importantly fosters a sense of empathy and social responsibility while making a meaningful impact on the lives of others. “We were grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Community in Crisis and look forward to continuing our partnership and participating in additional projects to come in 2025,” said Medina.
