Somerset Hills School District Celebrates Students Awarded with Academic Achievement
Dr. Scott Neigel, principal of Bernards High School, has announced that twelve students have been recognized by the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. The following eleven students were recognized as National Merit Scholarship Competition Commended Students: Lila Beckerman, Andee Costabile, Syl D'Amato, Ella Damratoski, Emma Grau, Ayla Johnson, Aidan Kinsey, Kilian Schlager, Gabriel Scotton, Garrett Senior and Maria Stephani. Pradnesh Thoppay was recognized as a National Merit Scholarship Competition Semifinalist, and will have an opportunity to advance in the competition for over 6,800 Merit Scholarship awards.
Two students at Bernards High School earned academic honors from one of the College Board National Recognition Programs. These programs celebrate students' hard work in high school and showcase their strong academic performance. The academic honors for rural area, Black, Indigenous, and/or Latino students are an opportunity for students to share their strong academic achievements with colleges and scholarship programs that are seeking to recruit diverse talent. The following two students were awarded the National Hispanic Recognition Award: Franco Escobar-Castro and Sophia Leal Dos Santos.
“We are extremely proud of these students for their achievement of being recognized by National Merit and the College Board National Recognition Programs. Each of these seniors not only excels in the classroom, but is actively involved in the school community,” shared Dr. Scott Neigel, BHS Principal. “They are to be commended for their dedication to their academic studies as well as their leadership within the school.”
These BHS students will be recognized by the Superintendent, Dr. Brian Brotschul, and the Board of Education members at the November 20th Board of Education Meeting.
