Félicitations aux élèves!

Amaya Ram and Parker Caponigro, BMS 8th graders, won the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) nationwide French writing contest!

The National French Creative Writing prompt asked students to write about a French speaking place they would like to visit, and to include what they would see, do, and eat! In their writing pieces, both students demonstrated an excellent command of the future tense. Additionally, in both pieces of writing, a higher level of vocabulary and sentence structure was evident, along with well researched information of their chosen locale.

Amaya wrote that she would like to visit France, mentioning her desire to visit libraries, famous monuments like the Eiffel Tower, as many cafes as possible, and of course taste the famous French pastries!

Parker wrote about a trip he would like to take to the French Alps and mentioned that he would like to rent a cottage, play sports, and have fun with his family and friends in the snow while looking at the beautiful scenery of the mountains. He mentioned that a visit to the village to sample delicious French cuisine would be a must! Who can argue with that?

Amaya and Parker will have their writing published in the spring edition of the 2025 Elan magazine and they also received a monetary prize of $75.

Special thanks to BMS French Teacher Patricia Kupper.
