Welcome to English 2!
In English 2, we will critically read and evaluate literature using various literary lenses. Through these lenses, we will determine how characters are motivated, how society influences and sparks conflict, and how an author uses symbols to represent larger themes throughout the course of a text. Our readings will include excerpts from a selection of memoirs, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare to be paired with a TBD graphic novel, and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Class periods will focus heavily on discussion; therefore, it is imperative that we create a positive and respectful environment in which everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas and viewpoints.
A Google Classroom has been set up for this course, which will be updated regularly with announcements, handouts, and helpful resources. The classroom code is amwqan0.
