SHEF Renaissance

Kicking off the 2023 school year last month, the Somerset Hills Education Foundation (SHEF) announced its renaissance, and their renewed commitment to work with the diverse community of Somerset Hills to build an education coalition to help close the funding gap, and support the vision of the district.

Since its inception in 1996 as a charitable 501(c)3 organization, the Somerset Hills Education Foundation (SHEF) has honored the mission to promote and provide education opportunities through innovative programs and projects that benefit students in many ways. To date, SHEF has donated over one million dollars to the district directly, as well as through teacher grants.

This year, the SHEF Board of Trustees welcomed an experienced, new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Brian Brotschul, as an ex-officio board member. “I am excited for this partnership and know that our students will directly benefit from the collaboration,” said Brotschul. With the addition of six new trustees, two legacy trustees, and a group of dynamic faculty representatives, SHEF is focused on being active, transparent, and a catalyst for positive change.

“At the heart of our mission lies the unwavering belief in the transformative power of education. With the generous support of the community, SHEF can continue to empower young minds, create opportunities, and shape brighter futures,” shared SHEF Chair Olga Christie.

Donations can be made online at or sent directly to Somerset Hills Education Foundation, PO Box 533 Bernardsville, NJ 07924 and 100% of the tax-deductible donations go to fulfill SHSD needs for student impact. Their No Cash/ No Problem policy welcomes in-kind donations such as the following: A special club membership can be donated for SHEF’s holiday season raffle or a small business can donate its services to add to an upcoming auction event.
